Valve is bringing the popular Battle Royale genre to their best-selling first-person shooter, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
In addition to now being free-to-play, Valve is releasing a new mode called “Danger Zone”. The mode drops eighteen (sixteen for solo queue) players into a new map titled “Blacksite” where they will compete against each other in a free-for-all or squad based battle.
All experience is earned through looting your surroundings and surviving in the game. In this fight or fright game mode, players can choose to play aggressively to overtake their opponents or passively to try and survive using your silence.
Players who already own the game will be upgraded to “Prime Status” which will earn exclusive rewards, such as the Prime-exclusive Danger Zone MP5 weapon skin shown above. Players who are new to the game can choose to purchase the Prime status for $14.99 USD, and begin earning exclusive in-game rewards.
While the game is available for Xbox 360, the free-to-play and Danger Zone updates are only available for the PC version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
