Games are breaking more and more away from the barriers that once held them back from certain platforms. Exclusives are still relevant, even necessary to a degree, but the amount of titles going multi-platform should make everyone happy. Maybe it’s fitting, then, that the latest game that reduces this invisible boundary to dust involves anime mech-combat.
Once a Nintendo Switch exclusive, the developers of Daemon X Machina, Marvelous Entertainment, have announced that it will be heading for PC, and it’s probably sooner than you think. The game has sights set on February 2020 and will be available through Steam. If you don’t know much about it already, you can check out the PC announcement trailer below.
Daemon X Machina was produced by Kenichiro Tsukuda, producer of Armored Core. As one would expect, Daemon X Machina involves piloting a mech into battles against other mechs. Straightforward? Yes. Full customization? Certainly. Is it fun? Maybe. It received mixed reception at its initial release, from 5’s to almost-10’s. So that’s something you will have to decide for yourself.
It will cost $60, however, if pre-ordered, you can receive 20% off and some extras. The game itself has a single-player campaign, 1v1 and 2v2 modes, as well as several co-operative modes. Who said piloting a mech had to be lonely? If you managed to play it on the Nintendo Switch at its release, there probably won’t be a lot to draw you back. But if you don’t have Nintendo’s latest console, or just prefer a PC for your mechs to look as good as possible, this is for you.
