Supermassive Games have a new title on the horizon to add to the line of Dark Pictures Anthology games. Supermassive Games are also responsible for the creation of Killzone HD, Little Big planet PS VITA, Until Dawn, Hidden Agenda and Shattered state.
The Dark Pictures Anthology jumped off the success of Until Dawn by pledging to have five stories all independent of each other, with different characters and settings but all horror themed. The first in this series, Man of Medan, consisted of a group of friends being out at sea, finding an abandoned ship and having to survive a cavalcade of supernatural phenomenon.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope meanwhile takes the setting of a small town in America, with a foggy aesthetic and a dark past reminiscent of the setup to Silent Hill 2’s storyline.
The fog surrounds the group after their vehicle crashes and forces the group to go towards the centre of the town. While travelling deeper and deeper into the aforementioned town of Little Hope, they notice strange visions of a little girl and various other non-corporeal apparitions stalking them.
Meanwhile, the same features that were available previously will return, including standard single player mode. The series focuses on a shared horror experience, with options of shared story online 2 player mode and an offline 2 – 5 player movie night mode. This is an experience to have with friends akin to playing an interactive horror film.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam for October 30th, 2020. For more reviews and gaming news you can keep up to date at Informed Pixel.
