Today, the Playstation YouTube channel unveiled the official trailer for the first of Dark Souls III’s two DLC expansions, confirming the various leaks and rumors circling the internet over the past few days.
The trailer, while showing off a decent amount of new content, also, in typical From Software fashion, has kept much of the context a mystery. We get to see a few new weapons, such as a shadow-coated blade, and a few new spells as well, such as a lightning disk that returns back to the caster after traveling its full distance, and a snowstorm sorcery that appears to cover a wide area.
We also get a look at more than a few new enemies, including a bunch of creepy insectoid creatures, an imposing figure wielding a shockwave-inducing greataxe (perhaps another new weapon that said enemy might drop), and a cloak-wearing boss who ceaselessly attempts to smash you into oblivion with a bowl resembling the Lordvessel from the first game.
Finally, the expansion will launch with a special arena just for PvP combat, providing a new location for duels and fight clubs, as the base game is woefully lacking in suitable areas.
Ashes of Ariandel looks to be an excellent addition to the base game, providing just enough content for both PvP and PvE players alike to stay interested in the world of Dark Souls III. Ashes of Ariandel launches this October 25th, and you can watch the reveal trailer below.
