Season of the Haunted brings a host of new sandbox changes, activities and new sweet sweet loot to Destiny 2.
Ships’ Haunted
This Season brings guardians back to a world eating ship called The Leviathan. The Leviathan had previously disappeared after passing through what is described as a “Pocket of Darkness, outside our realm”. Suddenly The Leviathan is back, and is orbiting the Moon.
Due to the ship communing with the Darkness Pyramid on the Moon, The Leviathan is now haunted by Nightmares of the guardians’ past. It is up to the guardians to release the nightmares from their torment.
All guardians will be able to land on the Derelict Leviathan as the latest free open world destination. Guardians will be tasked with exploring the secrets of the Leviathan via the new free Public Event, Nightmare Containment.
They must use the harvester (seen below) to clear out waves of enemies and store their energy to create a great Scythe Relic. Guardians will face varying difficulties over 4 rounds, in up to 3 tiers. This includes a boss fight at the end.
New loot!
For Season Pass holders, there is a new weekly mission called “Sever” that will continue to propel the story forward. Working alongside Crow, Eris Morn, and Zavala, players will slowly unravel what has happened aboard the Derelict Leviathan one piece at a time.
Along side some glow-y new “Eris Morn” style armor, there are a few returning weapons. Starting with the return of the Destiny 1 exotic, The Trespasser, and a fan favorite, the Calus Mini-Tool sub-machine gun.
There are a few new weapons included in this newest season too, along with some Universal Ornaments available in the Season Pass.
Solar 3.0
As a quality of life update, Bungie has given Solar the “3.0” treatment. Converting the Solar subclasses to use the Artifact and Fragment system that was introduced in New Light with Stasis, and later applied to Void with the release of Witch Queen. That only leaves Arc left to be reworked and given the 3.0 treatment.
