Blizzard is partnering with Nintendo to bring Diablo III Eternal Collection to the Nintendo Switch.
“The Eternal Collection is the definitive version of Diablo III, and we’re thrilled to team up with Nintendo to unleash it for Nintendo Switch gamers around the world later this year,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Bringing the world together through epic entertainment is core to our mission at Blizzard—we can’t wait to welcome a new generation of demon-slayers to Sanctuary.”
The Eternal Collection includes the Diablo III base game, it’s expansions, and all the content included in the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game, Diablo III is set to release on Nintendo’s portable console, this Fall. Nintendo Switch owners will earn exclusive content, such as The Legend of Ganondorf Armor Set revealed in the Forbes leak yesterday. The exclusive content also includes the Tri-Force portrait frame, a Chicken pet, and a new pair of cosmetic wings titled “Echoes of the Mask”.
The Diablo III port was heavily rumored, ever since Blizzard posted a suspicious image to Twitter, later confirming that is was intended “to be a fun community engagement piece”. Later on, several retailers listed the game for the Nintendo Switch, which hinted to the series debut on Nintendo platforms. The community was buzzing and excited to see Blizzard’s dungeon crawler make it’s way to the Nintendo Switch, but either Blizzard Entertainment nor Nintendo had confirmed it’s development.
Yesterday, Forbes let it leak of Diablo III’s pending release for the Nintendo Switch. Today, Nintendo made it official by posting the announcement trailer on their social media channels. You can catch that trailer below:
