Looking for something more bite-sized in-between big blockbuster releases to cleanse your palate? Look no further than Donut Dodo, the newest arcade edition published by Flynn’s Arcade and developed by pixel.games!
Donut Dodo looks to recapture the 80’s classic arcade vibe, with what looks to be heavy inspiration from arcade classics like Donkey Kong and Burger Time, to name a few. A vibrant colour palette and an exciting chiptune soundtrack will transport you back to simpler times.
Enter Billy Burns on his adventure to collect as many doughnuts as he can in 4 stages, with a bonus 5th level to follow. Collecting the doughnuts is not enough, though; you also need to manoeuvre around enemies scattered throughout the stage as they attempt to thwart your progress.
These doughnuts will also flash randomly, giving you a combo bonus for each one you grab. With no set pattern to memorize, each stage can be played each time differently, opening up different strategies to try and collect the highest score. Speaking of high scores, there is a worldwide leaderboard to compete in! The leaderboards allow you to use three initials alongside your score, just like in the arcades.
Donut Dodo touts having a hardcore approach with no continue; seeking to challenge you in every stage with its tight controls and thrilling gameplay. There are no excuses for your demise, no cheap deaths here!
Donut Dodo will be released on the Nintendo Switch on December 1st with a 20% discount the first week of release.
