Doom Eternal tears into some Demon scum with a brand new trailer. Doom Eternal is the sequel to Doom 2016 – which is a soft reboot of id Software’s phenomenal first-person-shooter series. This time around we get to play as an ‘upgraded’ Doom Slayer, who is now equipped with new skills and equipment.
One of the new weapons showcased in the trailer is the Crucible. This sword is totally new in the series and as the trailer shows, it quite literally tears through the enemies that are unfortunate to stand in it’s way.
The trailer starts with a shot of Earth and the Moon. What we soon see just after that is quite a large chunk of Earth covered in a large sigil. An ominous voice then tells us that “this is Humanities time to repent” as shots of a ravaged Earth are shown. We then see the demons walking amongst the ruins. Following that, we are treated to shots of the Doom Slayer putting on his helmet and grabbing the series’ signature weapon – the shotgun.
We are also shown glimpses of the new enemies such as the Marauder and the Gladiator, as well as a golden figure who looks akin to an Angel. Id Software have teased a trip to Doom’s version of Heaven, so this could be a first look at one of it’s inhabitants.
Naturally the trailer would not be complete without showing us the Doom Slayer in action. Doom Eternal seems to build upon the carnage that we saw in Doom. The Doom Slayer is given a wealth of skills and equipment to create carnage through the environments – Earth is our playground.
Doom Eternal spawns onto Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch on March 20th, 2020. For more gaming news you can keep up to date at Informed Pixel.
