EA Sports has named New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady the cover athlete for Madden NFL 18.
In previous years, the cover athlete would get injured in one way or another throughout the season, and this phenomenon has been named the “Madden Curse.” Fortunately, Tom Brady doesn’t quite believe in curses. “The Madden NFL 18 cover is a great honor for me,” said Brady. “Especially since I have been playing the game since growing up next to EA headquarters in the Bay Area. I’m not one to believe in curses, so I’m ready to take the challenge head on like always! It doesn’t stand a chance!!!”
Two different editions will arrive when the game launches on August 25th. The standard version will net consumers the base game, but for those wanting more out of the Madden experience can choose to purchase the Madden NFL 18 G.O.A.T. Edition. Shortened for “Greatest Of All Time,” players will receive “one of the five G.O.A.T. players of their choice for Madden NFL 18 Ultimate Team” with the promise of more content being announced shortly. Additionally, those who purchase the G.O.A.T. edition will receive three-day early access to the game so that they can kick off before everyone else.
Pre-orders for the game begin today at retailers, both digitally and physically. Xbox One owners can take advantage of the EA Access program for this title, which rewards players with a 10% discount on the game, as well as timed access to the game a whole week before it’s launch.
EA also mentioned that more details would roll out during EA Play which takes place in Los Angeles from June 10th-12th. Stay tuned to InformedPixel for more news regarding the future announcements.
