This stark little indie game was revealed by developers Double Hit Games, who are responsible for several indie titles on the app store such as Sinking Pirates, Tiny Keepers, Goofy Monsters, Medieval Life and Orc Smasher.
Eternal Hope is a 2D puzzle platformer with dark silhouettes defining the characters and creatures. The foreground often contrasts this with bright lights lighting up the background, making the game look and feel fresh.
The player occupies the role of a boy called Ti’bi, who is on a journey searching for the soul of his lost loved one. To get to his loved one’s soul, he must traverse many obstacles with use of his ability to access the shadow world. This Shadow world is a parallel version of our own world, in which creatures called An’mu reside. Most of these creatures are helpful in traversing the world and helping you out of situations you would normally be stuck in, however some are corrupted and are hostile to the player, causing great danger to this hero’s journey.
The shadow world is also different to our own world, in terms of the structures you can find and interact with. These structures provide ways to traverse the world, which may lead to some interesting puzzles to tease players with.
Eternal Hope is due to release August 6th, 2020 on PC, with an Xbox One release coming later on in the year. For more reviews and gaming news you can keep up to date at Informed Pixel.
