Thousands of gamers were able to download Watch Dogs 2, free of charge if they had a particular digital code.
The promo code was intended to be a single-use code to download a copy of Watch Dogs 2. However, due to a glitch in the system, it became reusable for a certain amount of time. After the news spread on social media, the code expired, but not before thousands of gamers took advantage of the “free” holiday offer.
At the time of this writing, there is no information about what will happen to those who took advantage of the code. We have reached out to Microsoft for more details regarding this exploit.
Back in June, Microsoft encountered a glitch which rewarded players with a free copy of Fallout 4 and the season pass. Although no one was penalized for downloading Fallout 4 during this time, the purchases were removed from anyone who managed to download the game for free.
Watch Dogs 2 is available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
