Bethesda announced that the first ever Fallout mobile game, Fallout Shelter, has become the top downloaded game in 48 countries via the App Store for iOS devices.
Within two days of Fallout Shelter being released, it overtook King’s Candy Crush as the App Store’s number three top-grossing app in the United States. Additionally, within the first week following the game’s release, play sessions of Fallout Shelter have surpassed 70 million times a day globally bringing this title to one of the most played games on the App Store ever. It remains the number 1 most downloaded free game on the App Store.
“We play games on our phones all the time, and have always wanted to make one,” said Todd Howard, Game Director at Bethesda Game Studios. “To have our first mobile game be enjoyed by so many is stunning. It just shows that gamers appreciate more depth and being treated fairly. It also shows people love Fallout as much as we do.”
Praised for its fun, addicting gameplay, Fallout Shelter is a post-nuclear strategy and simulation experience that puts you in control of an underground Vault. You must build and expand the Vault while protecting and overseeing the community of Vault Dwellers who reside within it.
Fallout Shelter is available for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Unfortunately we have yet to receive word if this game will be making it’s way to Android or Windows Phone markets.
