Ubisoft Toronto‘s Far Cry 6, the newest release in the long-running FPS franchise, has finally been released worldwide! Delayed initially from its February release date, the sequel hit its October 7th release date in spades.
The anticipated sequel takes place on the fictional island of Yara, a tropical paradise ruled by a ruthless dictator Antón Castillo. Actor Giancarlo Esposito plays the terrifying villain Antón Castillo, joined by actor Anthony Gonzalez as Antón’s son, Diego.
Players take control of a Guerilla fighter Dani Rojas, who sides with the Libertads in rebellion against Castillo’s tyrannical reign. The open world of Yara offers a considerable sandbox for players to indulge in! Far Cry fans will fill right at home with this familiar yet unique take on the Far Cry model!
This story-based first-person shooter also includes a co-op campaign, allowing you and a friend to take down Castillo together! In addition, there are side missions that can only be completed in co-op, with more being added in the future!
Quick First-Impressions
I hadn’t played a Far Cry game since 2014’s Far Cry 4 – so I wasn’t looking forward to Far Cry 6 in any capacity. That said, after watching ACG‘s Review of the game, I decided to give it a fair shot, as I’ve been craving a new single-player experience to hold me over until Halo Infinite.
After about 7 hours of raw gameplay, I can confidently say that Far Cry 6 is an absolute blast! Brutal combat and high-octane action are the primary focus this time around, with stealth being a less viable option, at least with my play style.
Weapons are highly satisfying to use, kills are brutal, and the sandbox possibilities are downright ridiculous. However, with so many story-based quests to take part in and no shortage of enemies to kill, there’s yet to be a dull moment so far.
In addition, Far Cry 6‘s story is fantastic so far! The main character, Dani Rojas (female), is charismatic and relatable, and she has excellent chemistry with the game’s many side characters. However, Giancarlo Esposito‘s villain Antón Castillo might even be the scariest Far Cry villain yet! The character is an absolute monster, yet I can’t take my eyes away from his evil stature!
