The highly anticipated Far Cry 6 has been given a release date trailer. We have also been given a video interview with Giancarlo Esposito, who will play the new villain of Far Cry 6, along with another interview with Anthony Gonzalez, who will play the son of the main villain.
The trailer shows us more of the main villain of Far Cry 6, Anton Castillo, dictator of the fiction city of Yara, Cuba. He teaches his son, Diego Castillo how the world works using an active grenade as an example, in order to raise a stronger successor.
We see the streets of Yara are swarmed in violent protesters who want Anton dead, fighting with the local police who are defending Anton’s home. The trailer ends showing Diego slowly dropping the lit grenade into the streets full of protesters, some being prepared for live executions.
Far Cry 6’s story was heavily inspired by Guerrilla warfare, which the to the narrative director of Far Cry 6, Navid Khavari spoke of. Apparently whilst on a trip to Cuba he met former guerrillas and heard stories from them, about their fight for what they believed in.
Unfortunately that is all the reveal trailer has shown us, so let’s go over what we have been given with a interview from the actors of Anton Castillo and Diego Castillo, Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito and Coco’s Anthony Gonzalez. Note we are giving you a quick rundown on the interview.
Giancarlo talks about his character, how Anton is very skilled at manipulating people including his son, as he believes those who win are telling the truth, even if the truth is a lie. Giancarlo also talks about how it took him awhile to get used to wearing motion capture suits used, something he “wasn’t very adept at” as well as get over the fact he looked very “goofy”.
Now let’s go over Anthony’s interview. Anthony speaks about his role as Diego and how he got into the shoes of his character. He researched the relationship between Diego and his father along with all the soldiers at his home. He speaks about how he feels a strong connection with Diego and how he empathises for him.
Anthony also speaks about the limitations of working in motion capture suits, in the fact that can’t go outside like you would in live action films. Similarly to Giancarlo, he talks about how it does take time to get used to wearing motion capture suits as it was his first time working with this type of equipment.
Far Cry 6 will be released on February 18th, 2021 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. For more reviews and gaming news you can keep up to date at Informed Pixel.
