When the first three games of Final Fantasy were announced for a remaster on PC and Mobile back in 2021, it felt odd that console platforms were left out. Most notably, the Nintendo Switch felt like the perfect home for the anthology. Luckily, we don’t have to wait much longer; the official launch of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster is later this month!
For those unaware, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster holds six incredible classic games, Final Fantasy I-VI, in one discounted package for you to experience or separately if you want only to play your favourites. You can check out the launch date trailer below.
Features For Everyone!
Square Enix has added some enjoyable features to the console version of the Pixel Remaster entries, which we hopefully see implemented in the PC and Mobile versions. The most notable change is being able to switch font styles. New to the remaster is a pixel-based font style added to the game that evokes a classic feeling.
Another noteworthy feature is the ability to change soundtracks from the original to rearranged pieces. Notably, the original composer, Nobuo Uematsu, oversaw the rearranged pieces. With that in mind, you can rest easy knowing the newer soundtracks will still hit as hard as the classics.
Additionally, more customizable options included with the remaster are random encounter rates, EXP gain, Gil Gain and more, depending on which title you are playing. There is a heavy emphasis on this remaster being meant for all types of players. All new features are entirely optional, so there is no right or wrong way to play. Just enjoy the series!
At Long Last, A Remaster For Console
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series is available for preorder digitally on Nintendo Switch, with PS4 to follow. The series is also available on Steam and Mobile devices, with each game being sold separately at USD 11.99 – USD 17.99 and the bundle costing USD 74.99. A physical edition was available on the Square Enix Store but quickly sold out. However, there is a waiting list if you want to hold out for a physical copy!
