The Game Awards show took place earlier this evening, where Overwatch received the coveted Game of the Year Award.
Blizzard has worked hard throughout the year in developing not only a video game but a lasting multiplayer experience. While it doesn’t entice everyone, there is no doubt that Overwatch has brought in a lot of attention, from fan-art to impressive looking Cosplays, Overwatch defines gaming in 2016.
In their yearly tradition, The Game Awards picked their Game of the Year with the help of various news outlets and gaming companies. Last year, the Game of the Year award went to CD Projekt’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, assumably for its ability to tell an amazing story and provide hundreds of hours of content without the need of downloadable content.
It is an impressive feat to earn the Game of the Year title during the Game Awards. Overwatch beat out massive titles like Titanfall 2, Inside, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Doom – All holding Metacritic scores between 80 and 100.
Overwatch is available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
