The Coalition’s Gears of War 4 has just gone gold, meaning it has been sent to manufacturers for production.
This will be the first time that a Gears of War title has been launching simultaneously on console and PC, as the game will be available through Microsoft’s Play Anywhere program. If you don’t know, purchasing a copy of Gears of War 4 on either platform will net the player a copy of the game on both platforms. Meaning you don’t need to purchase two copies of the same game to enjoy it on PC or Xbox.
“With Gears of War 4, I’m very proud of what the team at The Coalition has achieved.” Said Rod Fergusson, head of The Coalition. “Not only is it the most technically ambitious Gears game yet – with split-screen play on both Xbox and Windows 10, Xbox Play Anywhere support, Cross Play across all co-op modes, and available 4K graphics – it’s a return to the grounded, tense and brutal tone that made so many fall in love with this universe, story and characters for the first time.”
In case you missed it, we playing Gears of War 4‘s Horde Mode while we were at PAX West 2016 and had an absolute blast. You can read our full coverage of the mode here.
Gears of War 4 will be available for the Xbox One and Windows 10 on October 11th, 2016.
