The spell-slinging tag-team racer GENSOU Skydrift, from developer studio illuCalab and publisher Phoenixx, is on its way to the PlayStation consoles very soon.
The game allows the player to take control of a tag-team of 22 Touhou Project characters. The aim is to pick a duo that combines the right amount of magic and navigation abilities that are necessary to dominate your opponents on 20 winding tracks!
Each duo comes with unique and exclusive stats and magic spells. Players must swap between their two characters to perfectly twist and turn around each map.
Along with the games release on the PlayStation platforms, two new characters and courses will also be added to the pre-existing versions of the title on Steam and the Nintendo Switch. These include the Heaven course covered in vibrant cherry blossoms and the futuristic city in Redevelopment Area B.
The game boasts a large assortment of modes, including a magical narrative driven Story Mode. It also includes Time Attack, a mode that encourages players to aim for the best possible lap time they can get, along with the online Versus Mode which sees 8 players go head-to-head to see who can come out on top.
EIKI, lead developer at illuCalab noted that “Racing games can be intimidating to break into, but a game made by fans and featuring a cute and colourful cast can help change that perception.”
The game will support the languages of English, Japanese and Chinese and is already available on Steam for Windows PCs and the Nintendo Switch for $23.99 USD/€ 21.99. It’ll release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on March 9th, 2021.
