That’s right, there won’t be any new Halo Infinite content shown anytime soon, at least not at the VGAs. For those who don’t know, the VGAs, or Video Game Awards, are a yearly celebration of some of the best games that year. Many Halo fans were hoping to hear more about Halo Infinite at this event, but those hopes are now but a dream.
This unfortunate news was confirmed by Brian Jarrad, who is known as Ske7ch to the Halo community. He works as the Community Director at 343 Industries, and commented the following on Reddit:
Right now we’re still going through the huge cascade of implications and ramifications to the release shift and the team is heads down working through nearly every facet of the game. Full disclosure we don’t have anything planned for the VGAs, but are hoping to offer at least a high level update within the next few weeks so we can kind of restart this journey together after the holidays. Pulling together something like a demo or big beat for the VGAs is an enormous amount of work and would cause challenges with current milestones of the holidays. I know it’s hard to wait, but the team is going to make the most of this extra time and we want to make sure we can put our best foot forward and commit to greater transparency and dialog on the road ahead. We’ll get there and get the train going again.
Quite a large statement, but there’s a ray of hope in there for sure. To hear that 343 Industries are hoping to offer ‘a high level update’ gives us Halo fans something to look forward to for Christmas time.
Brian touched on a few important things with his statement. He mentioned that ‘the team is heads down working through nearly every facet of the game.’ This is positive news to be sure. Following this, he states that ‘pulling together something like a demo or big beat for the VGAs is an enormous amount of work and would cause challenges.’
Taking the above into account, it’s clear that the team at 343 Industries are doing their very best to ensure Halo Infinite is perfect for a 2021 launch.
