The next Hearthstone expansion of the year has been revealed. Murder at Castle Nathria is the second expansion in the year of the hydra and sees 135 new cards being added to the game.
What Happened At Castle Nathria?
Murder at Castle Nathria presents an interesting direction for the theme. Unlike the previous expansion, the latest expansion brings the story of players helping to solve a murder mystery after Sire Denathrius was killed by a dinner guest. Each class is presented with a new class legendary who could be the next suspect.
New Cards and Mechanics
In addition, there are several new mechanics being introduced to the game. Firstly, Murloc Holmes is unique as it presents 3 questions to the player about the opponent’s starting hand, current hand and deck. If all are answered correctly, you gain all three cards.
Moreover, Murloc Holmes isn’t the only unique effect of the expansion. Prince Renethal has been released alongside the announcement trailer and allows players to both build a 40-card deck as well as start with 40-health. As for new keywords, infuse minions will get stronger whilst in your hand as your minions die.
Finally, there is also the introduction of a completely new type of card. Locations offer a sneak peak into possible locations for Sire Denathrius’ murder and act as a new way of influencing the game. After spending an initial cost, locations will stay on board and offer a once-per-turn effect at the cost of one durability. Locations cannot be destroyed by combat unless a card text states otherwise.
