Blizzard has unveiled a teaser trailer for the latest Hearthstone expansion. As part of the brief trailer, a series of changes were announced, including an update to the mercenaries game mode, which was set for release as a part of the current expansion cycle.
As part of the short preview trailer, there was a 15-second clip displaying a series of Alliance soldiers lining up behind blue and yellow banners. After Forged In The Barrens (you can read about that here), the next expansion will continue to follow the theme of Horde vs Alliance from World of Warcraft.
In addition, the short clip also detailed the full announcement of the latest expansion in further depth. The Livestream will be coming on July 1st, 2021. According to the PlayHearthstone website, Alec Dawson will be opening the Livestream. The Lead Designer will go over the details for phase 2 of the “Year of the Gryphon.”
Further info!
Game designers Liv Breedan and John McIntyre will be going over details for the new expansion. There are also set to be announcements for the battlegrounds game mode.
However, it has also been confirmed that the Mercenaries game mode has been delayed. It has been highly anticipated as part of phase 1 for the Year of the Gryphon. In the announcement, it was said that developers need more time to “implement all the awesome content we’ve planned for the mode.”
Instead, it has been moved to phase 2, and further details will be given on a dedicated Livestream this Autumn. Additional information about this is said to be coming soon.
The reveal Livestream is set to air on July 1st 2021. This show will be available on both Twitch and Youtube on the respective PlayHearthstone channels.
