Blizzard have released a brand new mini-set, alongside an overview trailer. Hearthstone Throne of the Tides sees 66 new cards added, alongside changes to battlegrounds and mercenaries game-modes.
Throne of the Tides Breakdown
As part of the overview trailer, some of the more powerful cards were displayed in action. Two of the most impactful cards may be the 2 new colossal minions, introduced as part of the latest set Voyage to the Sunken City. Unlike past colossal minions, Neptulon and Ozumat are both available to all classes.
The theme of Throne of the Tides follows that of Voyage to the Sunken City, with both nagas, mechs and dredge being key features. Among the cards released, there is support for a number of some underplayed decks including mine rogue and murloc shaman.
However, unlike the previous set, there has been an introduction of new and interesting disruption cards. Coilfang Constrictor allows the player to discover a card from the opponents hand, choosing one which can’t be played on the next turn. Immolate is a warlock spell that lights the opponents hand on fire. Any cards left on fire in 3 turns are destroyed.
Changes to other game modes
Alongside Throne of the Tides, patch 23.4 has seen big changes to both battlegrounds and mercenaries. Battlegrounds sees the introduction of Ozumat as a new hero, with a passive hero power summoning a taunt minion that grows with each sold minion. Moreover, there is a potentially controversial return of an updated Diablo.
Mercenaries players can look forward to an array of new characters to choose from. Not only that, but there is also a free mercenary in Tyrael. Tyrael comes to your aid during the limited time event starting 7th June 2022. This live event sees Y’Shaarj invade mercenaries and present a series of themed challenges for players.
Hearthstone: Throne of the Tides is out now on both mobile and pc. The entire 66 card set is available in voyage to the sunken city packs or for purchase at £12.99 or 2000 gold in the in-game store. The full golden copy of the mini-set can also be purchased for £59.99.
