Sometimes it’s nice to sit back, relax and enjoy the bloody, high speed carnage that is the classic ’90s shooters. If you’ve enjoyed recent games such as DOOM Eternal and Quake Champions; but are looking for something to scratch that ultra-classic itch, look no further. This week’s Indie Highlight is the retro-styled FPS game, DUSK!
Better Kill Everything!
Inspired by ’90s FPS legends such as DOOM, Quake, Half-Life and more; Dusk is a glorious return to form of relentless, high octane shooting action. Taking elements from such classic shooters, such as non-regenerating health, emphasis on constant movement and blowing a large number of enemies to bits. Of course, it couldn’t pull this off without a plethora of weapons such as; duel wielded and double-barreled shotguns, rifles, crossbows, swords, sickles and rocket launchers.
Taking place in Dusk, Pennsylvania, you must find your way through a large network of Lovcraftian ruins as a dark and ancient truth is revealed before you. Prepare to do battle with an onslaught of enemies such as; sentient scarecrows, demonic livestock and even cultists as you fight your way through 3 distinct campaign episodes. Enjoy slaughtering hordes of enemies to a hardcore metal soundtrack composed by Andrew Hulshult, who has also done work for Quake Champions and other FPS games.
Developed by David Szymanski and produced by New Blood Interactive, DUSK is available on Steam for Windows and Mac for $19.99 and will be releasing on Nintendo Switch on Halloween 2020.
