Another thing we like to do is Q&As with folks all across the gaming industry, from CEOs to Voice Actors. In this Q&A, we’ll be talking to three Virtual YouTubers from NIJISANJI.
Introductions
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Virtual YouTubers, they’re essentially YouTubers that take on the form of a digital character. They’ve become very popular over this past year, so much so that they’ve gained an audience worldwide.
In this Q&A, we’ll be talking to three members of NIJISANJI EN, an English focused section of NIJISANJI. NIJISANJI is one of the largest VTuber groups there is currently. NIJISANJI does a better job explaining exactly what they do, so please enjoy this explanation taken from their site.
“NIJISANJI project is a VTuber group featuring a variety of talented influencers who create exciting content. The objective of this project is to accelerate the beginning of the next generation of entertainment through various activities and services such as events, goods and digital content, original music, etc. Currently, over a hundred VTubers are active, regularly creating unique content on various video streaming platforms, such as YouTube.”
Now that introductions are out of the way, we can move onto the real reason we’re here. Today we’ll be going through some answers to questions given to NIJISANJI EN’s VTuber group ‘LazuLight’.
LazuLight consists of three different VTubers. Pomu Rainpuff, Elira Pendora and Finana Ryugu. They’re all fairly new VTubers, so we’re excited to help you all get to know them better.
Questions and Answers
We asked all the members of LazuLight the same questions, to see what really makes them stand out from one another. We’ll be releasing this Q&A as individual Q&As in the future too, should one member catch your interest the most.

Question: What made you want to become a member of NIJISANJI EN and LazuLight?
“I wanted to become a member of NIJISANJI EN because I was really inspired by other NIJISANJI members. I first was introduced to NIJISANJI by watching a show called “Virtual-san is looking” and from there I fell more in love with VTubers as a whole. Becoming one was a dream and NIJISANJI’s EN auditions made it possible to happen!”

“I’ve been a fan of NIJISANJI and was always interested in becoming a VTuber myself! NIJISANJI first drew me in with the large variety of streamers from all over the world and how it felt like a huge international family, but hooked me with the hilarious and hours of entertaining content all their talents provide. LazuLight was the name the 3 of us decided on after meeting and discussing multiple different suggestions!”

“I was mostly drawn by NIJISANJI’s culture and diversity! NIJISANJI has a large group of Livers of various genders, languages, personalities, talents and so forth. Because of that, I wanted to become a part of NIJISANJI EN and experience being a professional VTuber while doing things I’ve never gotten to do before! I actually didn’t know I was going to be part of an organized team (called “LazuLight”) until after being accepted into NIJISANJI. We came up with the name “LazuLight” together while it still had a filler name at the time!”

Question: What excites you the most about being a member of LazuLight?
“The most exciting thing to me about being a member of LazuLight is being the beginning of something new. I’m really excited to be starting NIJISANJI EN with Elira and Finana and I hope together as a team we can build something really great! I love NIJISANJI so much I want to be able to spread the name all over the world!”

“I’m most excited about the road ahead of us! Being a part of LazuLight means a lot of things, but most importantly for me it means I got to meet and start a brand new journey with Pomu and Finana. Standing at the starting line alone is terrifying, but when you have people to stand with and rely on it makes the trip 10x more fun!”

“The most exciting part about being in LazuLight are the fun side projects we get to work on together! This includes LazuLight’s debut song “Diamond City Lights” and announcement of our animation project, “NIJIScenario.” I felt that our friendship grew stronger while spending time working on these together!”

Question: What do you bring to NIJISANJI that helps you stand out?
“I hope that with my energy I can be a NIJISANJI liver that is always there to brighten someone’s day! I’m told that I can be chaotic and calming in a weird mix that I think can appeal to lots of people. My big PP energy will reach all over the world!!”

“What makes me stand out in NIJISANJI? PIKL of course! And my hair.”

“From what my fans have said, they often praise my gaming skills and meme lord personality! Despite being a pure and shy mermaid, when I connect closely with my viewers, I feel more open and creative with my real emotions and thoughts. And because of that, a lot of people seem to like the idea that I’m both cute and out of pocket at the same time, haha!”

Question: What is your favourite video game or video game franchise?
“One of my favorite game franchises is the Ace Attorney series! The story has me in tears everytime I play the trilogy from laughing and with how great the plot is. The games beyond the original trilogy are amazing as well. It’s truly a series I can play over and over again.”

“My favorite video game franchise is Professor Layton! It’s been a long time favourite of mine that I’ve enjoyed playing over the last who knows how many years. I love puzzle solving and using my brain to uncover the tricks and mysteries within a story.”

“My favorite video game franchise is Final Fantasy! I never got to play or finish any of the single player games, but I have always been around for the characters and unique lore that it brings, especially crossovers. “

Question: If you had to live in a video game world, which one would you choose?
“I think living in the Pokemon universe would be super fun! There’s so much mystery and adventure with each region. Plus who wouldn’t want to have an adorable team of Pokemon friends to do stuff with? And I’d fit right in since I’m also a fairy!”

“If I had to live in a video game world I would love to live in the Animal Crossing universe! Animal Crossing has also been another favourite of mine from the relaxed lifestyle and cute animal villagers you get to interact with. I think it would be interesting digging up the ground and finding whole parts of dinosaurs on every inch of the island LOL.”

“If there was a video game world I had to live in, I would love to live in Final Fantasy XIV! I think MMORPG games are a good choice to live in because they focus a lot on open world design based on their lore and embracing customizable character designs. The game mechanics are perfect for potential roleplay and basic lifestyle mechanics such as crafting, cooking, housing, social, etc. I would like to live casually as much as possible!”

Question: What games do you look forward to playing on stream?
“I’d like to play puzzle games and visual novels on stream! But I also want to push myself out of my comfort zone, so I’ve been getting into FPS games like Apex and horror games that scare me a ton! I’ll play just about anything as long as it’s fun!”

“I’m looking most forward to playing more FPS games! APEX Legends in particular is a game I have always been interested in but haven’t gotten much opportunity to play, but I’m looking to improve my aim and reaction time. I’m also a total beginner with RPG style games and I’d love to try a fan favourite on stream!”

“I’m looking forward to trying a lot of single player games! I’ve saved a bunch of games aside because I was hoping to stream them! A few examples are Telltale games, DOOM Eternal and Japanese RPG Horror games. I’ve been wanting to train myself for horror games as of recently!”

Question: Do you have any games you’d like to play with your audience?
“MARIO KART!!! Or TETRIS 99!! I’m not great at either of them, but it’s so much fun! I’d also like to go to everyone’s islands in Animal Crossing and see how they’ve decorated their islands.”

“There is a wide range of games I’d like to play with my audience, but one in particular is Among Us! I haven’t had a chance to play the new map much yet so I’d love to try out the new features and tasks with viewers and solve the mystery of who the imposter is together! Or maybe deceive them as well heh.”

“I definitely want to play a lot of story-based games where I can make choices! Those types of games have a lot of opportunities for me to connect with my viewers about what kinds of choices I should make and how it impacts the gameplay. I’m thinking the TellTale series would be perfect for this!”

Question: Are there any other VTubers, either inside or outside of NIJISANJI, that you’d like to collaborate with?
“Inside of NIJISANJI I want to collab with everyone! NIJISANJI has such a wonderful and unique range of members. I admire them all so much and it’s one of my goals to be able to collab with everyone! If I had to pick a few members in particular, I’d love to have the opportunity to collab with Tsukino Mito, Hoshikawa Sara, Higuchi Kaede, and Suzuhara Lulu.
Outside of NIJISANJI I’d love to collab with my oshi VTuber, Pikamee from VOMS! She’s so cute and fun and watching her streams always fills me with energy. I’d also love to collab with VShojo and HoloLive EN. I think building a strong community is important!”

“I have no set list currently, but I’d love to collaborate with as many NIJISANJI members as possible! I’ve been watching so many of their streams for some time now and getting to chat and play games with them would be super fun! Of course there are many amazing VTubers outside of NIJISANJI as well that I hope to get to know and collaborate with as time goes by!”

“I’d like to collaborate with all kinds of VTubers! I’m hoping to expand within NIJISANJI branches and also reach out to other VTuber companies, including indie VTubers as well! I don’t have any particular names yet, but so far I’ve gotten a decent mutual following from other known VTubers! I can’t wait to meet them all.”

Question: What are your current goals with streaming?
“My goals for streaming are to improve on the skills that I lack. I can actually be pretty shy and so I think streaming has helped with my social skills. I also lack confidence sometimes, so when I’m able to overcome something in a game, it feels really good! I hope I can entertain and inspire people with my streams!”

“Currently my main goal is to get used to streaming haha. It’s definitely a challenge at first especially at the beginning of streams, but as I find the rhythm of the stream and chat it gets easier and easier each time. Other than that, I want to help spread the name of NIJISANJI internationally to as many people as I can through my streams who still haven’t haven’t had the chance to see us!”

“My goal list is quite long, but my top 3 goals are releasing original music, improving my Japanese and collaborating with other VTubers! I plan to implement these somewhere in my future VTuber activities with NIJISANJI!”

Question: Do you have any advice for those that might want to get into streaming?
“My advice for anyone is to stick with it and try new things. There will be fad games and streams that come around, but do what you love to do rather than force yourself to stay with the trends. If you are only doing things because everyone is doing it and not because you enjoy it, then it may become a chore. Do what makes you happy!”

“You can do it. Don’t doubt yourself even for a second. If streaming is something you’re interested in doing and want to do, I say go for it! You’ll never know until you try and if you never try…you’ll never truly know! Do your research and learn your programs, find streaming genres that make you most comfortable and think about the content creators you enjoy and why. Once you find your own rhythm and define what kind of streamer you want to be, I’m sure you’ll have loads of fun!”

“Do lots of research and work very hard! Start small on your own and then once you’ve gotten the gist of it and want to go even bigger, then you can prepare for that! There’s a lot of things to take note of such as streaming technicals, personal skills, character development, etc. And even if you’re nervous and shy, sometimes those are charming things to have! Don’t let others scare or bring you down from doing what you want, as long as you have good intentions!”
