Travel back in time to the Late Edo period on an epic revenge story in Like A Dragon: Ishin! Brought to us by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega, Like A Dragon: Ishin has been remade for the new console generation while retaining most of the gameplay from the original.
First released on the PS3 and PS4, and only in Japan, Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin! (or Like A Dragon Ishin!) is a spin-off series to the Yakuza series. It retains the beat-’em-up action-packed adventure that older Yakuza fans are accustomed to.
Take on the role of Sakamoto Ryoma (modelled and voiced after Kazuma Kiryu in the mainline Yakuza series) in his journey to find his adoptive father’s murderer. Ryoma is equipped with 4 different fighting styles, which will feel familiar to those that have played previous Yakuza games.
Hand-to-Hand, Sword, Pistol and Wild Dance will be the 4 different fighting styles at Ryoma’s disposal. How you want to take on the fights ahead is completely up to you. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each style will be key to your success!
Along with tense battles and an exciting storyline, there are plenty of side quests and mini-games to distract you. Chicken racing, fishing and karaoke are just some of the fun activities Ryoma can partake in while he is in Kyo and Tosa. Additionally, some of the original cast of Ishin! and their counterparts have been re-casted as well, most notably from Yakuza 0, Yakuza 5 and Yakuza: Like A Dragon.
Also, we have a new gameplay system called Trooper Cards, which is an optional support system while you are in battle. Sega also released a free downloadable content pack called “Elite General Trooper Cards”, which has six cards based on celebrities and influencers, including Kenny Omega and Cohh Carnage.
Like A Dragon: Ishin! is available now through the Xbox Marketplace, PlayStation Store and Steam. Also, there is a Combat Demo available for download on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, if you would like to try some of the game before buying!
