Did you read/see Harry Potter and find yourself imagining what it is like to pilot an house-cleaning object? Witches have been floating around on their sweepers for centuries, hassling the lord’s children and making brews with their finds.
Fortunately, you won’t see much of the gap-toothed crone in an upcoming game, though there will be plenty of brooms. Soon, Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing sweeps onto the Oculus Quest.
Little Witch Academia is a popular anime show, where Akko, a teenage girl, is attending a magic school. She struggles with various aspects of the learning, as she doesn’t have a magical background; then she discovers the Shiny Rod, a powerful relic.
The player will be in the role of a guest student at Luna Nova Witchcraft Academy, where they will partner with beloved characters like Akko, Lotte, and Sucy. It will feature more than 10 tracks to race around and players will have the ability to customise their brooms. There will also be a Story Mode as well as some Multiplayer modes for friends to compete in various challenges.
As for the game, it looks to place the player in the midst of Studio TRIGGER’s anime show. As a Kickstarter the game managed to succeed in its goals, reaching over $165,000 between the site and its Japanese equivalent, Campfire.
Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing game originally planned to release in June 2020. Now, as a nice surprise, UNIVRS Inc. announced its new release isn’t far off– October 13th, 2020. It will $29.99 at release, and while there will be only the Oculus Quest version, there are more in the works. The game will also make its way to Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, and Steam VR in 2021.
