Mad Catz announced four new R.A.T. Gaming Mice joining their peripheral lineup within the coming weeks.
Each of the mice have their own level of customization options, marketed towards players with different play styles and budgets. First, all of the mice listed below feature some form of customization, meaning gamers can increase the length of the mouse to fit their hand comfortably. Second, every mouse features a DPI sensor of at least 7200, with the R.A.T. 8+ going up to 16,000 DPI, great for players who play their games at a very high sensitivity.
The entry level mouse is the R.A.T. 4+, which is a mouse with no special bells and whistles, besides the customization options already present on past R.A.T. mice. Moving up, we have the R.A.T. 6+ mouse, offering up nine programmable buttons, an adjustable palm rest, and removable weights, giving players the option to make their mouse heavier or lighter, dependent on their preference.
The R.A.T. 8+ should be considered the “Coup de gras” of gaming mice. it features a lot of the same features present in the R.A.T. 6+ gaming mouse, as well as a adjustable thumb rest and optional rest for your pinkie finger. As well, the 8+ mouse includes on-board memory, allowing gamers to save up to three different user profiles which have macros, lighting, and sensor settings. As Mad Catz points out, this is a perfect mouse for gamers who are portable, especially those who play in tournaments and are frequently travelling.
With those three out of the way, we move on to the R.A.T. Pro S3. With the “Pro” affix, you would assume this would be the best mouse for your buck, but it isn’t. Weirdly enough, the Pro S3 includes Mad Catz’ 3330 sensor, the same one present in their entry product. This means you only get a DPI of up to 7200, a strange move in our eyes. The mouse features a full adjustable palm rest, but unlike the 8+ or 6+ gaming mice, this palm rest can be extended up to 12mm from the mouse, and tilted 15 degrees either way.
Every mouse, with the exception of the R.A.T. 4+, has been test to work up to 50 million clicks and features Mad Catz’ proprietary RGB lighting system called “Chameleon“.

The R.A.T. 4+, R.A.T. 6+, R.A.T. 8+ and R.A.T. Pro S3 gaming mice are available in select European countries, with availability in North America starting in “the weeks ahead.“
