The latest instalment of the Mario + Rabbids series has been revealed courtesy of the latest Nintendo Direct. The follow-on from the tactical Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle seems to follow suit in delivering a fun, turn-based adventure game.
Trailer Analysis
In addition, the release trailer gave us more new details about Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. The adventure centres around controlling a team as you explore the map and save ‘sparks’ from an unknown threat seeking to take their energy. As well as tactical team fighting, there are a series of puzzles to navigate to move from one section of the area to the next.
Furthermore, the trailer gave a sneak peek at some of the nine playable characters. As well as Mario, there are various Rabbid characters, including a mysterious sword-wielding Rabbid and the return of Rabbid Rosalina. Sparks of Hope also adds Bowser as a playable character to the galactic adventure.
Further Game Details
In contrast to the previous game, Sparks of Hope adds more freedom to players as it moves away from the old grid format and allows free movement. This allows for more diverse tactical scenarios while preserving the fun Rabbids experience.
Moreover, the introduction of sparks seems to add a layer of customization and complexity to Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Sparks have various abilities that can give passive or active bonuses during battle.
Release Details
As announced at the latest Nintendo Direct, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is due for release on the 20th of October 2022. It is available for pre-order on the Nintendo website for £44.99, and the gold edition for £79.99.
