The world was given some ground-breaking news on Saturday November 7th, 2020. The news that could potentially change the shape of the world as we know it. The news that everyone hoped would happen but we just needed confirmation nonetheless… that’s right, on Saturday we learned that Mass Effect Legendary Edition is coming in Spring 2021!
November 7th is a staple date in Mass Effect Fans minds as N7 Day. Rather fittingly on N7 Day, we got the big news from Bioware in blog form. Mass Effect Game Director, Casey Hudson said: “It’s tough keeping a big secret but now it’s official”. This seems a direct response to the furore of requests that have been laid at Bioware’s front door by many fans.
So, what is Mass Effect Legendary Edition?
The original Mass Effect Trilogy has been seen as the staple of the series since its inception. Since the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, many fans wanted to revisit the original trilogy and experience the much loved franchise from the beginning with updated and remastered visuals.
This is Mass Effect Legendary Edition. It seems the team have been working hard in updating textures, models and technical features of the first three games. To be clear, this is a modernised experience of the original trilogy and not a ground-up remake. According to Hudson, the idea is to “experience the original work in its best possible form.” Therefore, gamers can expect super-sharp resolution, faster framerates, and visual enhancements to the originals.

Aside from the single player base content, players can expect much more with this edition. For example, the original trilogy’s DLC will be included here as well as promo weapons, armours and packs. Everything will be optimised for a 4K experience.
We can expect a release in Spring 2021 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. However, the game will be forward compatible with enhancements for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
