The Future is coming our way fast. Every time a new development project is revealed by a games company, the whole industry is launched forward (Think of VR technology). Yesterday Microsoft unveiled their newest project; the Xbox xCloud and it’s safe to say that in the near future gaming will be changed radically.
The Xbox Project xCloud is Microsoft’s game streaming service that allows you to play Xbox games on virtually all mobile phones and tablets. This will essentially bring all of your home gaming with you on the go with a device you already own, eradicating the need for a second handheld Xbox console being bought for that sole purpose.
Another great part of this is that you can connect your wireless Xbox controller via Bluetooth for gaming on the go or you can alternatively use the on screen buttons to play (although I can imagine that some games will be nearly impossible played this way).
We see in Microsoft’s official unveiling video, games like Forza Horizon 4, Halo 5: Guardians and Cuphead running flawlessly streamed onto mobile phones and tablets and it looks incredible.
Trials for the Xbox Project xCloud are due to start in 2019 and I can’t wait to see how handheld gaming will be revolutionized once again.
