Iceborne Console Roadmap
The major title updates for both releases will begin in February, with January being the anniversary Grand Appreciation Fest. There isn’t a lot of focus on the consoles during this period in order for PC to play catch-up. February shows some special event quests, and March has 2 Variant Monsters. April is when everybody all gets to play with the same toys.
The events range from limited time quests that increase gold crown monster appearances, decorations, and Great Spiritvein Gems. The 2 Variant Monsters releasing in March are sort of the last update that console players will be getting ahead of the PC folk.
PC
February’s PC title update focuses on the Rajang. Notoriously difficult, the Rajang also comes with a new Volcanic Region added to the end-game Guiding Lands. This is accessible once players have accepted the quest to battle Rajang. How many more times can I say Rajang? Okay, sorry, I’m done. February also introduces Resident Evil sweethearts Leon, Claire, and Tyrant to Iceborne for the limited Raccoon City collaboration.
Yes, Tyrants are sweethearts, fight me. Hunters can acquire materials for Leon α+ and Claire α+ full armor sets plus three Raccoon City themed pendants to spruce up their favorite weapons. You will also have limited time quests for materials to forge the Hunter Weapon and Palico armor + weapon from the Iceborne Design Contest winners.
The March part of the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne roadmap introduces the Stygian Zinogre to PC. A new Tundra Region will be tacked onto the Guiding Lands, and Tundra exclusive materials will become available. Challenging the Safi’jiiva Siege is available for those who want to earn new Awakened weapons.
All Together, Now
Ayyy, it’s April! Everybody gets to play together! Well, not together together. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne still isn’t cross platform. Later in the month marks the beginning of major content updates for both PC and console having the same release schedule. New Arch-Tempered and Master Rank versions of existing monsters will be available at the same time for everybody, and there will also be the return of a “fan-favorite monster...” in May. Yes, that was your teaser. Somebody, somewhere, really liked a monster, and that monster is coming back.
What do you think the new monster is going to be? Does having the same release schedule as people on other platforms matter to you? Is Rajang as fun to say for you as it is for me?
