I’m not much of a phone gamer– in fact, I’m not much of a phone person in general. I didn’t understand the Pokemon Go craze, though it was kind of neat to see hordes of people moving together like they were of a single mind. Games such as Candy Crush and Angry Birds never caught my interest; Nintendo’s games like Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes seem like shells of their bigger brothers.
While the games themselves are no doubt passably fun, I refuse to pay money for extra lives, a “premium” skin/avatar or simply to make the ads go away. I’d rather just not play it at all (but I don’t harbour any ill feelings towards the games themselves– they fall into the same category as Amiibo).
Considering the money available, more companies will probably make such announcements; BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. is the latest with Naruto X Boruto Ninja Tribes. Whether it looks to buck the trend of the schemes of its mobile game compatriots remains to be seen. You can check out the trailer below.
Set in the universe of the anime series, the game is a 9 vs. 9 turn-based battle game for iOS and Android smartphones in the US, Canada, and Japan. Crunchyroll subscribers will be able to sign in directly from that site, or the game can be accessed using the same log-in account.
Any player who logs in each day during the launch celebration will get up to 2,500 Shinobi Coins. In celebration of passing 300,000 pre-registrations, those who are in that list will receive 1,000,000 Ryo, the in-game currency.
If you are a fan of the anime or use mobile games as a distraction, you can download Naruto X Boruto Ninja Tribes from either the Apple App Store or Google Play. It is available for download as of today and is the best price–free. At least to start with.
