Niantic Labs’ extremely popular mobile game Pokemon GO will be receiving some new features in the coming weeks.
The CEO of Niantic Labs, John Hanke, mentioned that the game will feature the ability to trade Pokemon with other players. When asked about the feature, he said “It’s kind of a core element,” with the app designed to feature more player interactions and customization.
There will also be more updates to several Pokestops and Pokemon Gyms, as Hanke said they started out with the “very most basic versions.” Niantic hopes to give players the ability to “customize their functions in other ways,” making for better interaction with other players.
Hanke also mentioned that there will be some improvements coming to the AR features in the game, however nothing was really discussed on what sort of improvements we could be seeing. The only real note given on AR is the potential compatibility of future AR devices, such as Microsoft’s Hololens. While not confirmed, Hanke mentioned “That may be a fun thing to take advantage of.”
Pokemon GO is currently available for iOS and Android devices in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. We have reached out to Niantic Labs to see when Pokemon GO will launch in Canada.
