Nintendo provided us with more details regarding the Nintendo Switch during the live-stream event on Thursday evening.
The Joy-Con controller will ship with a variety of different features. First, the Joy-Con attachments will be available in two different colors: Blue & Red. Both sides of the Joy-Con controller contain haptic feedback, motion control, NFC amiibo functionality, and a sensor that can detect objects in front of them. When separated, the Joy-Con controllers can be used to play multiplayer games like the newly announced 1-2-Switch.
“Nintendo Switch is a brand-new kind of home gaming system that offers a wide variety of play modes,” said Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima. “We will introduce the world to new experiences made possible by the unique characteristics of the Nintendo Switch hardware and the Joy-Con.”
The tablet itself will feature a battery that lasts up to six hours when disconnected from the home dock. Additionally, the Nintendo switch tablet will feature a multi-touch screen, suitable for games that will support it. At the time of this writing, we don’t have any information regarding which games will be compatible with the multi-touch features, but we expect to hear more within the coming hours.
Nintendo also mentioned that the Nintendo Switch would be compatible with multiplayer gaming, up to seven additional Nintendo Switch consoles.
The Nintendo Switch releases on March 3rd, 2017.
