Update: We were informed by Nintendo of Canada’s PR team that the price drop may not be permanent. We have removed the wording from the article and will keep you up to date if we hear more information.
Original: The Nintendo Switch is receiving a price drop in Canada today.
Nintendo of Canada announced that the MSRP for the Nintendo Switch is dropping to $379.99. The price change has taken effect at Walmart, Best Buy, EB Games, London Drugs, Toys R Us, Shoppers Drug Mart, The Source and Amazon.ca, according to Nintendo. There was no specific reason for the price drop given besides to celebrate the “end of school and to kick-off the summer travel season“.
This is the first permanent price drop that the Nintendo Switch has received since it’s launch in March 2017. In that year, great titles like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, L.A. Noire, Doom, and Mario Tennis Aces were released for the system, all achieving higher than industry-normal Metacritic scores throughout their lifetime.
Unfortunately, no news was announced regarding a price drop in other regions, such as the United States. According to our sources, the Nintendo Switch will remain at $299.99 USD aside from promotions active at some retailers.
The Nintendo Switch is available at select retailers.
