Playstation owners will not need an active Playstation Plus subscription to play No Man’s Sky when it launches next month.
There has been a lot of mixed communication regarding Playstation Plus – whether or not everyone who purchases the game will need a Playstation Plus subscription on top of the game purchase. Editor for Game Informer, David Milner revealed the information through his Twitter page yesterday evening.
Just confirmed with Sony: you don’t need PS Plus to play No Man’s Sky online. Some readers were confused by the language on this. Good news.

The developers behind No Man’s Sky, Hello Games, have had a lot of troubles with the development of the game. While first being revealed during the Spike VGX in 2012, No Man’s Sky has been faced with numerous delays due to unforeseen circumstances. The latest delay from June to August, resulted in the developer’s founder Sean Murray to receive death threats. Despite the troubles, No Man’s Sky officially went gold on July 7th.
No Man’s Sky is scheduled to launch on August 9th for the Playstation 4 and PC.
