People want another Splinter Cell; it’s a fact. Sam Fisher hasn’t starred in his own game since Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013. As a series of stealth-action games, they presented a unique challenge for players. The closest thing we have now is probably Hitman, though that series leans into its sandbox style instead of missions that advance an espionage story.
Players may not be getting another Splinter Cell that we know of, but Sam Fisher will join the ranks of another game. Where will you find him? In Operation Shadow Legacy, shown for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
First off, the upcoming Operation Shadow Legacy is considered to be the Year 5, Season 3 event. Sam Fisher, known as Zero in the game, brings his stealth gameplay into the Rainbow Six Siege universe.
His weapon is the SC3000k, which will be familiar to anyone who has played a Splinter Cell. He also has his 5.7 USG handgun with a silencer, and an MP7 rifle. His main gadget is the Argus Launcher; it can fire a camera at a wall which can then view both sides of its position. It can then fire a laser to hurt or damage enemies or their gadgets.
More Than Just A New Character
One upgrade players will see is the reinvention of the Ping. Called Ping 2.0, this overhaul intends to allow more context around pinging teammates. Each player will have their own Ping number, further easing the delineation between players. New optics will be added, with customizable reticles, including color and opacity.
A map is being reworked (Chalet) and a feature they call Map Ban will be included. This allows players to select which maps they want to avoid. With a Map Replay Feature, changes to the Reinforcement Pool as well as Thatcher’s EMP Grenade, there is a wealth of tweaks coming. There are too many quality-0f-life and minor changes to detail them all here, but for a full list you can check out the Ubisoft website.
Operation Shadow Legacy for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will release before the end of 2020, though no actual date has been given. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft.
