Ready for some tasty ’90s style jams and funky pixel art fire fights? Yeah, you are! Publisher Playism is working together with Japanese developer Grayfax Software to bring you Orangeblood. Set to release in January 2020 on Steam, and later on consoles, the game takes place sometime in the 1990s, “on a historic timeline different from that which we know.”
Take control of four bad ass, yet still kawaii as hell, girls on a man-made island off the coast of Okinawa and shred gangsters and robots alike. The combat is turn based, with a store allowing you to purchase randomly-generated weapons throughout the game.
In the words of the Orangeblood Steam Store page description, “Load up a shotgun so powerful you’d burn yourself to toast if the gas leaked and some brand-new fireproof sneakers, find a group of psychotic yakuza thugs, and personally deliver a handwritten invitation to BEATDOWN TOWN!”
Check out the release date reveal for Orangeblood below.
Orangeblood was originally set to release in November of 2019, but had been pushed back in a decision from both Playism and Grayfax Software. It is worth noting that Grayfax is just one human and the sole developer of the game, so you can understand if they needed a bit of extra time. From the looks of the game so far, it will be well worth the wait.
Will you be picking up Orangeblood? What are you looking forward to most about the game? You can let us know over on the Informed Pixel Facebook page, or on the Informed Pixel Twitter account. For more gaming news you can keep up to date at Informed Pixel. I have a feeling you’ll catch me more than once doing literally nothing in the game and just listening to the soundtrack. Don’t judge me.
Orangeblood releases on January 14th, 2020 for PC. It currently has not released any dates as of yet for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
