Despite the game’s sequel being announced this week, Bungie has no plans to cease support for the first Destiny game.
In an interview with GamesRadar, Bungie’s Community Manager Deej spoke about their plans to support the original title. Players wishing to experience the original game, even after Destiny 2 officially launches, can take a sigh of relief as the game is planned to be supported for the foreseeable future.
“We are celebrating the conclusion of the adventure of Destiny 1… still a game that will be there for players,” Said DeeJ. “We’ve planned to support it for the foreseeable future, so while we do have a sense of finality and closure as the theme of this [Refering to the Age of Triumph] event, we are by no means turning the lights off on Destiny 1.”
Destiny received the Age of Triumph update recently, including some new and old content for players to explore. The free update marks the end of the game’s story, but not the end of the final game, as Bungie plans to support the game through various methods.
Destiny 2 arrives on September 8th, 2017, for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
