EA Sports has issued a statement via Twitter that Patrick Kane will no longer be included on the cover of NHL 16.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Chicago Blackhawks’ Right Wing, Patrick Kane, would join the team’s captain, Jonathan Toews on the cover of NHL 16, with both players holding the Stanley Cup. Patrick Kane has since been removed due to the recent sexual assault allegations.
“In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA SPORTS NHL 16.” EA Sports posted on Twitter, “He will not appear on the EA SPORTS NHL 16 cover nor participate in other EA SPORTS NHL 16 promotional activities.”
NHL 16 will be released for the Xbox One and Playstation 4 on September 15th, 2015.
