PopCap’s original Plants Vs. Zombies was a tower defense smash hit, which ended up being ported to almost every platform ever, and even their surprising spin-off FPS Garden Warfare was popular enough to earn a sequel of its own.
So, where is this series headed next?
According to PopCap’s latest trailer, the iconic plants and zombies are headed to a superhero-themed card battle game ( in the vein of Blizzard’s Hearthstone) with Plants Vs. Zombies: Heroes.
Plants Vs. Zombies: Heroes, is free-to-play with in-app purchases, but to quote PopCap:
“Everything in the game can also be earned and collected without spending a penny. We won’t have any cool-downs or other barriers to play as much or as long as you want.”
The worldwide release date for Plants Vs. Zombies: Heroes is currently unknown, beyond a vague “later in 2016”, but (perhaps somewhat bizarrely) if you’re in Brazil, Romania or New Zealand, you can download and enjoy the game right now.
