Is the PS4 getting a price drop, just in time for the holidays? Kind of, according to an online flyer from Target.
IGN has captured the following image showing a $50 price drop which has since been taken down. The standard price for a Playstation 4 will be marked down to $349.99 in the U.S. (Presumably $399.99 in Canada) and should be taking effect just in time for when the Uncharted Playstation 4 Bundle is released on October 9th, 2015.
The Last Of Us and Destiny PS4 bundles are technically the same price, but include a $50 gift card instead. Interestingly, the Uncharted bundle did not feature the gift card at all, but this has since been changed.
In the middle of September, Sony announced a literal price cut in Japan at the Tokyo Game Show, from ¥39,980 to ¥34,980, or the rough equivalent of $50. Normally, that kind of territory-specific change would be followed by similar drops in other places. Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, even said that he expected this kind of pricing change from Sony. This will help keep the PS4 ahead in the sales race, a battle it has been winning handily since launch in late 2013.
