Sony released their fiscal results for 2017, revealing that the company has shipped more than 79 Million Playstation 4 consoles worldwide.
These numbers include all SKU’s of the Playstation 4 console, including the recently released Playstation 4 Pro, capable of playing games at a native 3840 x 2160 (4K) resolution. Sony’s goal was to clear the 78 million mark by the end of last year, meaning they surpassed their forecast by 1 million units. With that said, the company shipped a total of 19 million consoles last year, which is a decrease of 1-million when comparing the results from 2016.
Software sales have been on the rise, with an increase in sales of 18% compared to the previous year. With more titles such as God of War, The Last of Us 2, and other new releases coming in 2018, their software sales should continue to grow as they continue to build on their list of exclusives.
The Playstation 4 and Playstation 4 Pro are available at retailers nationwide.
