Microsoft is waiting until their E3 Press Briefing to unveil the Project Scorpio.
Scorpio has been the talk of the industry over the last few weeks, which was expedited thanks to Eurogamer’s coverage of the console’s specifications. What we do know is that the Project Scorpio will launch as the industry’s top performing console in terms of raw hardware. Sporting a custom eight-core x86 CPU, clocked at 2.3 GHz, 12GB of GDDR5 RAM, and a GPU with 40 customised compute units at a speed of 1172 MHz, the console is sure to send waves throughout the industry. “I’m proud of the progress made with Project Scorpio and what it will mean for the creators who fuel the passion of gamers around the world.” Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer stated in a blog post. “On behalf of everyone at Team Xbox, thank you for your continued passion and support. We’re excited to unveil Project Scorpio and the amazing game experiences it powers at E3 this June.”
Games will remain to be a focus for Microsoft, as they are looking to bring developers back to the platform by supporting cutting-edge hardware and a streamlined development process. One game rumored to be announced for the Project Scorpio and Xbox One is Halo 3 Anniversary, said to launch as a Xbox Play Anywhere title. If true, the game will see a release for both PC and Xbox One, with possible support for 4K HDR gaming. Speculation aside, there should be lots to look forward to this June.
We will see the Project Scorpio and new software announced during Microsoft’s E3 Press Briefing on June 11th, 2017, at 2 PM PT. Keep your eyes peeled to Informed Pixel for more information as it rolls in.
The Project Scorpio is dated for release this year.
