Capcom have unveiled a series of details on Resident Evil Village, the latest in the Resident Evil franchise. As part of the showcase, a 3rd trailer was released as well as a demo game titled Maiden. The demo is currently exclusive to PlayStation 5 users.
Following on from the events of Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village follows Ethan Winters as he deals with Alcina Dimitrescu and her three ‘daughters’. Ethan has been called to investigate the goings on in a strange castle, with lots of speculation online as to why.
From the trailer, Dimitrescu’s monstrous size is there to bear witness to. She has to duck through a doorway and seems to dwarf her daughters. The three daughters are seen several times. They often changing form into swarms of insects and bearing uncomfortable wide grins.
In addition, Dimitrescu is on the phone to an unknown person and is reporting to them. Questions have been raised over who is pulling the strings and who the mysterious Heisenberg is. The trailer finishes with a strange man looking up at Ethan and what looks to be the beginning of a boss fight.
Furthermore, it has also been announced that those who play Resident Evil Village will also have access to a free multiplayer game titled Resident Evil RE:Verse. It will be available on all the same platforms and feature popular Resident Evil characters as they fight in 4 to 6 player battles.
Resident Evil Village standard (£49.99) and digital deluxe (£59.99) editions are available for pre order and will release on May 7th, 2021 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. There is also a PlayStation exclusive collectors edition.
