SEGA has announced Sonic Mania, a new 2D side-scrolling Sonic game similar to the first titles released on the Sega Genesis.
Announced during the San Diego Comic-Con, Sonic Mania brings Sonic back to its classic formula. Featuring three playable characters – Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles – players will embark on a new 2D Sonic Adventure. A trailer showcasing the new game can be seen below.
The game will feature a mix of old and familiar levels, all of which are presented in the past 2D Sonic design.
Sonic Mania will be released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in Spring 2017.
