Deep Silver has ganged up with Sperasoft to remaster Saints Row: The Third, following on the announcement that Saints R0w IV: Re-Elected was coming to the Nintendo Switch. Nine years after its initial release, Saints Row: The Third looks to get back into hustling. Thanks to Sperasoft, “every weapon has been remodeled, every car has been redesigned, and a vast proportion of the city has been retextured.”
The environments, character models and visual effects are all upgraded. If that wasn’t enough to entice you (back) into a life of crime, the game will come with all DLC included. This adds hours of “gleeful mayhem” within the city of Steelport.
With a release date set for May 2020, you won’t have long to wait. That is, if it doesn’t encounter the same snags as other, higher-profile games. For those who haven’t experienced the series, the Saints are a gang. Their color is purple. They deal in guns, drugs, sex, sneakers, energy drinks and bobble-heads. But, like usual, becoming a household name includes unforseen problems. A group called The Syndicate has noticed, and like a jealous king, demands fealty.
While you refuse to kneel, you’ll perform such activities as taking a tank skydiving, or wiping out a Mexican wrestling gang using a satellite-targeted airstrike. The gunfights with “Weapons of Crass Destruction” remain, and the game includes variations on things like hover jets and human cannonball cars. As for how much it will set one back– the price has been set at $39.99; it includes more than 30 pieces of DLC.
So if you are missing your gang members due to the quarantine, there are some virtual ones who’ll have your back. Saints Row: The Third Remastered is releasing on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 22nd, 2020.
