Who likes free things? You like free things! I mean, we all do, right? The people over at SNK Corporation have got a nifty little gift for you in just that vain. The multi-game jumble entitled Samurai Shodown Neogeo Collection is dropping for free. Check out the trailer here.
But Lance, what is included in Samurai Shodown Neogeo Collection? I’m glad you asked, strange infomercial I just invented in my head. Starting with Samurai Shodown (1993) and working its way through the weapon based fighter’s sequels all the way up to Samurai Shodown V Special (2004), there are six titles in the collection.
Furthermore, if you call now, SNK will include a yet unreleased title Samurai Shodown V Perfect free of charge! You don’t have to call anybody, I was just really enjoying the infomercial vibe I had set up for myself.
Included with each title is an online battle mode, with both casual and ranked matches. You can also challenge friends in the aptly named “Challenge Friend” mode. It is worth noting that online is only for the English versions of Samurai Shodown titles.
Also included in Samurai Shodown Neogeo Collection is a new Museum Mode. Die-hard fans of the series can brown over 2,000 development documents and images. Getting tossed in the mix are developer interviews, where you can listen to them discuss development of titles. Inside the museum you can find a music player with over 200 tracks from all of the Samurai Shodown titles.
Okay, what if “free” sounds too good to be true to you? Well, you’d be right. Samurai Shodown Neogeo Collection will only be free on the Epic Games Store from June 11th to June 18th 2020. Starting on June 18th the price will be $39.99 and it will be included on Steam for PC Download. Console players wait a little bit longer as it will release for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on July 28th, 2020.
