Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64, Gameboy, and even Nintendo DS categories have been found in the Nintendo eShop.
Twitter user KeyDoy, a software designer at Trenta.io, was searching through the Nintendo e-shop’s JSON (Javascript code), when he came across a “Virtual Console” section in the code. What he found was several acronyms pointing to classic game systems. These include the Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo 64, and the Nintendo DS.

Nintendo hasn’t announced any form of Virtual Console service for the Nintendo Switch at this time, besides the selection of NES titles available through the Nintendo Switch Online service. It is possible that these listings are nothing but a placeholder for the Nintendo eShop, especially considering that the same code is shown on the eShop for the Nintendo 3DS.
What are your thoughts? If the Virtual Console service does launch with these platforms, what would you like to see on the Nintendo eShop? Let us know in the comments below!
The Nintendo Switch is available worldwide.
