June 23rd, 2021 was the 30th Anniversary of SEGA‘s long-running (no pun intended) mascot, Sonic The Hedgehog. Fans celebrated while watching a Live Symphony Concert that people can still view online. Along with this celebration of a beloved franchise came a brand new announcement trailer for a crossover DLC for Minecraft.
From the trailer shown, we see multiple areas from the Classic era of Sonic The Hedgehog recreated in the style of Minecraft, such as: Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant Zone, and Sky Sanctuary Zone.
We also see that the Eggrobos and other classic Badniks will be included as enemies, along with well-known items such as Rings and Chaos Emeralds. We are also shown that Co-Op will be available along with multiple skins based off of memorable characters from the franchises history.
While not much is explained, we are given information that Co-Op will be a part of the DLC, as friends can race each other through each level, or explore the levels and find the many secrets hidden within. There seems to be more, but not much information is given to make out what the DLC will be like in full.
Fortunately for those looking to pick up the DLC, it is available for PC, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It is priced at $7.99 on the Microsoft Marketplace, while being 1340 Minecoins on the Minecraft Marketplace.
